Referencing Central Otago’s rich pioneering story, and underpinned by tenets of extraordinary design, Mt Cardrona Station is set to launch the latest stage of their first release.
Set within 400 hectares of rural mountainside beauty and suitably named, Pioneer neighbourhood will incorporate land-plus-home packages, due for completion in 2023.
The master-planned community draws on a wealth of combined development, design and architectural talent, executed by leading players in their fields.
The developers emphasize “connection to views, open spaces and natural vegetation is central to the design ethos.”

Subsequently, prominent architects, Leuschke Group Architects were called upon to conceive homes with every modern comfort, married with an inimitable Otago character.
Tom Morton, of Mt Cardrona Station Village Limited, says Leuschke was a good fit for the project.
“We wanted someone with experience who understood the project and could create simple but beautiful design responses.”
A celebrated architectural pioneer in his own right, Colin Leuschke defines the homes as, “inspired by the rich history of the Cardrona Valley, and in a contemporary manner that reflect the vernacular buildings of the early settlers.”

Elements of the cabins and cottages of early Otago – corrugated corten steel, timber weatherboards, vertical battens, and schist exteriors produce a striking collective of mountainside homes.
Three to four bedrooms, and two to three bathrooms join roomy living spaces in neutral tints across three-house types. Premium fittings and materials, chosen for their durability and beauty, forge equally sophisticated and relaxed interiors.
Morton explains, “the houses needed to have all the features that one would expect in a premium home, but also designed for the lifestyle we expect our buyers to have, skiing in the winter and adventuring around the station and the wider region in the summer.”
Land-plus-build options are priced from $1.4 million, and land only from $675,000. Photo / Supplied
Landmark is constructing the homes, another natural choice Morton says.
“We wanted a local builder who had experience delivering high quality builds cost effectively, a track record for delivering to customers consistently.
“We have found that with Landmark, Andy and his team are focused on delivering great homes to happy customers.”

The centrepiece of the village, the Homestead offers all-day dining along with shared workspaces and meeting rooms.
The amenities will be developed in stages alongside neighbourhood releases. On-site property management services are available for owners.
New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty agent Myles Green, who is marketing Pioneer, says, “we are tremendously excited to bring Mt Cardrona Station to market and currently have a range of land and land-plus-build options available, providing plenty of ways for people to become a part of this absolutely unique alpine community.”

Residents’ capacity for adventure is boundless. Access to Mt Cardrona’s Alpine Resort borders the development. Within its boundaries, 30km of walking and hiking trails will run through the station’s terrain. Twenty minutes from Wanaka and 45 from Queenstown, the station boasts a position unlike any other.
