As a previous export agent working backwards and forwards between Japan and New Zealand, Dan Reed was an accomplished salesperson before approaching real estate back in 2008 and now after 26 years of being based in Auckland and 15 years as a real estate professional has decided to move is family back to where life all began back in the Hauraki Plains.

The experience of buying and selling his own homes taught Dan the importance of the role an agent plays when making such huge life decisions. He decided to orient his career towards property so that he himself could offer the level of support and excellence he sought from his own agent. Now 15 years into his role, Dan Reed had become a pillar of support for home buyers and vendors in the Herne Bay, Westmere, Ponsonby and Grey Lynn until his move in 2022 back south over the Bombays to establish himself in the local residential market.

With the years Dan has been in the industry he has certainly seen his share of bull and bear markets so the ability to adapt and keep everything relevant for his clients is a skill Dan favours the most.

Dan relays information confidently and accurately providing detailed reports for vendors so there are no surprises. He stays in touch with a regularity to suit, and if there is something he doesn’t know, Dan will find it out and come back to you with a clear directive.

Conscious of the marketing costs to his clients, Dan is focussed on building great marketing strategies and is not afraid to change tack mid-campaign if he can improve their impact – even if that means more work for his team.

When dealing with buyers, Dan says, “you can never know what drives people’s decisions, so I treat everyone who walks through the door like they’ve won the lotto the night before and ready to buy the house we are marketing, its sounds a bit silly but a great way to stay focused and treat everyone equally.” He calls back each person who takes the time visit an open home, while not rushing them to make decisions.

Dan exhibits all the hallmarks of a professional, married with a great sense of humour. He remains up to date with the property market, so you don’t have to - closely following local property listings, reading everything he can get his hands on, and talking to a wide range of people to garner their perspectives.

Outside of real estate, Dan dedicates as much time as he can to raising his 10-year-old son which often includes standing on the side of a sports field or court depending on the season. Dan’s accomplishments include being an Ironman athlete and competing for New Zealand at the Olympics distance and half iron man competitions. He is now tires to keep regular sessions in the swimming pool along with the odd run and bike ride. He dreams one day of becoming a professional golfer even though he only plays once a month.
