Ian was born in Balclutha in 1935 and apart from six years at Waitaki Boys High School in Oamaru, Ian was farming sheep and cattle in the Clinton Gorge until retiring to a life-style block at Wairuna in 1992. Ian married Julie King, a Balclutha registered nurse in 1962 and together they have two children, Paul & Bronwyn. Ian joined the Clinton Lions Club in 1970 and was Club President 1983/1984. From there Ian progressed to District Governor of Lions 202F in 1988/89 and is still an active member of the Clinton Lions Club today. Ian is also a very enthusiastic golf player. Ian started as a Real Estate agent for Harcourts in April 2001 and believes the farming background of those earlier years has made an invaluable contribution to his success.
