Kirsty is a descendant of the McGregor family, who were part of the Western Highland Scots epic migration sailing via Nova Scotia, finally arriving in Waipu in the early 1850’s. They originally purchased 83 acres in Whangarei Heads and donated land to build the Whangarei Heads School. Kirsty’s grandfather, Clarrie, slowly increased his land holding to include land in Urquharts Bay and out to Smugglers. She now lives in McGregors Bay named after her ancestors.
