Tevai has lived in South Taranaki for over 25 years and has enjoyed getting to know many people throughout the district. Coming from the tropical Cook Islands to the cold mist of Taranaki was a challenge Tevai but he positive outlook and mantra is a home is what you make of it. Upon joining many community groups, Tevai soon felt a sense of belonging. Being involved in the Egmont A&P Show for many years, working as Chief Steward for the home industries section. During this time, Tevai also belonged to the Kapuni Women's Institute Floral Art Group and remembers fondly tagging along with her mother in-law to the Horticultural Flower Show. Scouts have been a huge part of her life and Tevai thoroughly enjoys working alongside various leaders and prominent members of the community. Today Tevai still sees the kids that were in Keas, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers and feels proud of how far they have come. Many have gained their Chief and Queen Scouts awards. Working with Youth has been very fulfilling for Tevai over the years. The Food Bank Drive is another passion of hers, and believes supporting families in our community is a privilege.
