An Australian couple who spent a whopping A$40,000 ($42,000) redoing their bathroom had it completely gutted soon afterwards when they appeared on a home renovation show.
Erin and Tom Brown, from Toowong in Brisbane, signed up for Australia’s Love It or List It program recently.
The show features homeowners looking to either renovate their homes or sell up completely, with a team of experts transforming their houses.
Celebrity interior designer Neale Whitaker, a former The Block judge, oversaw the renovation on the Browns’ property — and decided to completely reconfigure the home.

Unfortunately, that meant taking a sledgehammer to the couple’s brand new bathroom.
Mrs Brown told realestate.com.au they knew the bathroom could be destroyed when they decided to sign up for the show.

“We built a new bathroom where the old bathroom was when I was pregnant with the twins,” she said.
“It cost us over $40,000.”
After Mr Whitaker’s dramatic renovation, the former bathroom became the kitchen, while the old kitchen became a lounge room.
That old lounge room became an ensuite, while a dressing room became the new bathroom.

Despite the drastic changes, the couple said they were thrilled with the final result.
“We feel like we’re sleeping in this gorgeous boudoir every night,” Mrs Brown told realestate.com.au.
“I’ve personally been enjoying the bathtub.”
“It’s like living in a hotel,” her husband said, adding: “How do you go back from living in a house like that?”
After seeing the renovations, the Browns first decided to hold on to the home — but they ended up changing their minds and decided to put it on the market.
