Whitford in Auckland’s south, could be called the Home Counties of Auckland - albeit, minus the royal titles or oligarch squillions. In the beautiful rolling country, you’ll find equestrian arenas and stables that a human would be proud to live in.
But even the non-horsey set would fall in love with this spread on 2.3 hectares: an eight bedroom home rambling over 685 sq m. Naturally there’s a pool, wine cellar, media room, a place to fit the spa pool and studio accommodation for the nanny, granny or teens.

Bare land in the centre of town is a rare, rare find. Make that over 800 sq m with grandstand views of Westhaven Marina and the harbour and you’ve got something pretty special. This plot of land on 35 London Street was part of a parcel of properties on the neighbouring St Mary’s Road that includes a partially renovated palatial villa on double section, and another section with permission to bowl the derelict villa.
But this piece of dirt was asking $3.495 million is now asking $2.795 million – a whole $1 mill below council land valuation. Barfoot & Thompson’s Liz Derbyshire and Selina Zheng are marketing this and 89 St Mary’s Road for urgent sale.
Call the architect, save $1 million.
Around the corner in Freemans Bay, Brendan Vucich and Justine Koning of Ray White Mt Albert have dropped $175,000 on the price on a villa on 21 Anglesea Street to $2.275 million. That would buy a few more dinners at Prego, but the possibilities of the clever multi-level, double entrance property are even better – ideally set up for offices or an Air BnB accommodation, it could be earning you money to pay down that mortgage.
Save $175,000 in Freemans Bay.
At 9 Matipo Rd Te Atatu Natalie Hachache and Ronald Hachache of Ray White North West have dropped the price on a classic 1970s split level to $975K (that's $175,000 below cv). The remodelled 150 sq m house on 1270 sq m has great outdoor living, plenty of parking as well as a double garage, and the classic Kiwi backyard that is hard to find now on the Peninsula. The vendors have done some feasibility work on subdividing (but not consented), which could make this well worth a second look as it is in the mixed housing urban zone.
