When it comes to "breaking the internet" Kim Kardashian’s derriere is a hard act to follow, but a cool and contemporary home in Kenny Road in Remuera, Auckland, is fast becoming the property equivalent, with more than 3000 hits during its first 24 hours on the market.
Agent Jo Johnstone, from Unlimited Potential, says that this level of interest is unprecedented and that she is getting enquiries from as far away as the United States.
“Our virtual tour is very popular and when potential buyers arrive to see the house many of them already know their way around!” she says.

More than 80 parties went through open homes on the first weekend of the campaign and she has also hosted many private inspections.
So, what’s all the hype about? Well, quite a lot, in terms of stylish space for modern families. At 419sqm, this is without a doubt one of the largest homes to hit the property market in Auckland this year.
It began life as a traditional 1920s bungalow and in 2012 it was completely reimagined for its owners at the time, by David Ponting design of Pontings Fitzgerald Architects.
The resulting home is immediately eye-catching with its unusual louvered façade, concrete steps and neatly manicured hedging.
As soon as the front door opens visitors are overwhelmed by the gallery-like hallway and the vista beyond – straight out to the rear north-facing garden.
Towering vaulted ceilings add to the crisp, cool atmosphere and the four bedrooms are all luxurious sanctuaries, with plush carpet and louvered windows. The master suite with its enormous dressing room and elegant bathroom is especially appealing.
The kitchen is cutting edge with two ovens, and impressive storage space. The combined laundry and scullery to its rear enables cooks to prepare food out of sight when entertaining.
The current owner says that the living space has been ample for her, her husband and two young children.
“We’ve had a number of big family parties here and it’s just ideal,” she says.
Within the room there are two living areas, while another snug or office, with workstations and built-in shelving, lies to the side and has sliding doors, which means it can be closed off.
The entire house opens to a sun-drenched terrace, lawn and swimming pool and the professionally landscaped garden has a distinctly Italian flavour, with tall, evenly planted trees.
When the weather isn’t conducive to outdoor living, the basement at 24 Kenny Road is an excellent place to retreat. The media room is vast and well-appointed, with a giant screen, which is included in the chattels, and the walk-in, thermostatically controlled wine cellar is a connoisseur’s dream.
There’s a second laundry in the vast garage, which can double as a rumpus room and still have space left for cars.
The owners say that they’ve enjoyed living here for the past two years, wandering to the Benson Road village for coffee, flowers and catch-ups.
Johnstone is still busy dealing with the flurry of enquiries her listing has generated. She says that people are really impressed at the level of automation – especially in the louvres, and they love the interior design.
The auction is to be held on site on October 16 and she expects it to be well-attended because properties of this quality are hard to find.
