A residential property developer is going the extra mile to sell the last four apartments in a complex he's just completed overlooking Victoria Park - offering to pay part of buyers’ mortgages.

The offer is valid for the last remaining apartments in the 38-unit block of brand new upmarket homes in the 10-storey Vulcan complex on Halsey Street .

The developer, Halsey Capital Limited, wants to sweeten the deal by paying the interest on buyers’ mortgages for the first year of their borrowings.

“Vendors have offered cars, boats, overseas holidays, and furnishing packages as part of marketing enticements, but to the best of my knowledge no-one has ever offered to help pay the mortgage before,” says the Bayleys agent marketing the property, Trent Quinton, adding that the promotion is an early Christmas present to four would-be apartment owners.

The Vulcan apartment complex in the 10 storey building has 38 units.

“The apartments are complete and virtually all of The Vulcan’s new owners have already moved in, so there is the definite potential that buyers of the last four remaining apartments could be enjoying turkey and ham on their balconies on Christmas Day,” Quinton says.

Quinton says that the buyer is free to finance their purchase with any bank they want but the offer is subject to terms and conditions. The two-bedroom and two-bathroom Vulcan apartments will be sold by negotiation with offers closing on December 11.

Other apartments in the Halsey St complex were sold between $650,000 for a lower-level single-bedroom flat and up to $1.8m for two-bedroom apartments on the top floor.
