The Auckland home of Newstalk ZB host Kerre McIvor sold under the hammer today.
The three-bedroom classic Grey Lynn home sold unconditionally for well above its CV of $1,950,000 after strong bidding at the on-site auction.
McIvor told OneRoof earlier this month that the home, which was marketed for sale by Barfoot & Thompson agents Jo Pickering and Jonathan White, had made an impression on her and her husband when they bought it 20 years ago.
“Yes, it was love at first sight, and yes, it’s also true that we really couldn’t afford it!” McIvor said.

The couple upgraded the cottage and turned it into a stylish home, installing over the years a swimming pool and central heating.
She said of her decision to sell: “We’re moving on and that’s just the way things go, but I’ll never forget the fun times we’ve had here. When I hear ‘Midnight Special’ I will always remember my daughter Kate and her friends, frolicking in the pool, and singing out of tune!”

The sale follows several standout sales at Auckland's auction rooms this week, including two homes that sold for more than $4 million.
OneRoof reported yesterday that buyer appetite was high for properties in the $800,000 to $1.5 million bracket.
Auctioneer Sam Steele, who presided over sales at Bayleys' auction rooms in the central city on Thursday, told OneRoof: “The market is very positive. At the start of the week there was uncertainty, but there are genuine sellers and genuine buyers still transacting."
