A luxury six-bedroom spread in one of Auckland’ most expensive suburbs sold at auction for $4.15 million - $850,000 above CV.
The house at 53 Vale Road, in St Heliers, had almost 100 groups through the open homes and five bidders competing at the auction.
Ray White agents Andrew Fava and Ross Tierney, who marketed the property, and another in Mission Bay which sold for $4.3 million, told OneRoof demand for multi-million-dollar homes right now was strong.

Fava said of the Vale Road sale: “We had 95 groups through the home which means there are 94 people still looking. These were people with intent to buy.”
Tierney said that it was the first time he had seen that many people inspecting at home at that price level.
“We need more properties at that [price] level,” he said.
53 Vale Road had been fully renovated and offers such luxury touches a semi-self-contained suite for an au pair, a swimming pool, cinema and entertainment room.

According to OneRoof records, the property last sold in 2010 for $1.75 million handing the vendors a profit, on paper at least, of $2.4 million.
Fava said that Auckland’s beach-side suburbs were garnering attention from ex-pats.
“We usually get one or two enquiries a year from expats - now we’re getting one or two a week. They’re sending friends and family to open homes.”
He added: “You forget how scary it is in the rest of the world.”
The sale price for 53 Vale Road is one of the highest for St Heliers this year. The top price so far was $5.1 million.
Tierney said buyers were prepared to pay premium prices for water views or a new architectural build.
The prestige property market in Auckland is seeing some heat post lockdown. Across town in Herne Bay, a bay-fronted villa at 2 Trinity Street sold this week for $3.175 million, more than half a million dollars above its CV.
