This week has been a hot one for Auckland house sales, with auctions rates sitting between 80 and 100 percent.
Coast Breakfast host Sam Wallace walked away a happy man after his three-bedroom home sold last night under the hammer for $1.565 million - $265,000 above the 2017 CV.
The radio star and his partner Sarah Bowman had decided to find a bigger place after finding out they were having twins.
Wallace told OneRoof after the sale of 1 Margaret Place, in Milford: "We're so happy with that, you can't underestimate that price for a three-bedroom place. It's a fantastic price.

"It's amazing for us - life changing. That money will go towards resourcing our children in our next place. There are lots of happy memories for us here, and the next person will not be disappointed."
The couple watched the auction from their living room, with ten family members, a "pretty terrifying" few minutes, Wallace said.
There were eight registered bidders at the online auction, called by Harcourts' Andrew North, and competition to secure the home was fierce. Bidding started at $1.550 million, and three bidders pushed the price up in lots of $1000 and $5000. North said: "I was happy to chip away."
The biggest star this week, though, wasn't a celebrity home, but a renovated bungalow in Grey Lynn.

Bidding for 37 Selbourne Street started at a high $2.3 million, and after some negotiation, slowly climbed to sell at $2.55 million - $1 million above the CV and what the property last sold for, in 2017.
Although the bids didn't come in fast and furious, what 37 Selbourne Street had was a top of the line renovation, two storeys, four bedrooms and a large section.
Other auction highlights this week included Bayleys' sale of a renovated three-bedroom villa at 6 Kapai Road, in Devonport, for $2.035 million - $285,000 above its 2017 rating valuation. A bigger home at nearby 11 Ascot Avenue sold for $2.4 million - $475,000 above CV.
At Ray White's auctions, a three-bedroom home on a cross-lease section at 5 Apirana Avenue in St Heliers, which sold for just above $1.13 million - $280,000 above CV - after more 50 bids. And there were 10 registered bidders chasing a tired villa at 30 Dunbar Road, in Mt Eden, which ended selling for $1.6 million.
Ray White NZ chief operating officer Daniel Coulson said: “These great results should give anyone thinking about coming to the market the confidence that, despite continued restrictions, the depth of the buyer pool out there continues to underpin the property market’s performance.”
