A Jaguar-mad builder can now drive away from his large South Auckland home after accepting an offer of $2.275 million within three days of the property hitting the market.

The 8070sqm lifestyle on Awanui Rise, in Ardmore, Papakura, was a stand-out in the market - it had enough garaging for 18 cars, a barn and a tennis court, and, crucially was listed with a price indication of "early $2ms".

The vendors, Rowan Morgan and his partner Linda, first tried to sell their property in June last year but decided to pull the listing soon after. A year later they relaunched the house, which has a CV of $1.88m, with better success.

Within three days of the listing going live on OneRoof, they received an offer, with two back-up offers being made just days later.

Bayleys agent Felicity Blackmore, who marketed the property with colleague Richie Blackmore, said 27 groups viewed the property during the campaign. The buyer had been introduced by another real estate agency, Harveys.

Morgan told OneRoof he was delighted with how the sale, explaining that he was now able to go unconditional on a lower-maintenance home he was hoping to move into.

"The whole thing fell in place," he said.

He did not know who the new owner was, but said both the buyer and back-up buyer appeared to have an interest in cars as they had wanted the two car hoists to be included in part of the chattels.

"It is a specialist property. You can't find anything else like it."

The retired builder moved from Hillpark to the lifestyle property 13 years ago when he was looking for somewhere to store his much-loved classic car collection.

He snapped up the 8070sqm property for $880,000 in 2011 and has added his own touches over the years. The barn was converted into a games room complete with bar and an upstairs area dubbed the Ladies Lounge which also leads to a referee's platform overlooking the tennis court. He also built his own workshop complete with a wash bay at the back of the shed to give him enough room to tinker with and store his special cars.

He currently has five Jaguars in the garage, but at times that has blown out to nine. “On the left, I’ve got a woodwork shop, in the middle I’ve got a mechanic shop and on the right I’ve got a showroom. That’s just the way I have it. but you can have it any way you like really,” the car enthusiast earlier told OneRoof.

Morgan and his partner said they were getting older so had decided to sell to downsize, but he told OneRoof his next property would still have plenty of room for his prize possessions.

He's already put together a shopping list for his new Drury home, which includes another automatic lawnmower and another workshop/garage, which would be a similar size to the one he had.

The new home already had a triple garage, which he admitted would be enough for more, but he wanted another garage for all his toys.

"I want to sell a couple of Jags, but once I build a shed I will probably weaken and keep them," he joked.
