- Corbett’s home, bought for $3.1m, now has an RV of $4.85m.
- The property features three living areas, four fireplaces and a 10-metre pool.
Comedian Jeremy Corbett has put his multimillion-dollar Auckland home on the market for sale, telling OneRoof the decision to downsize had come a lot sooner than he and his wife expected.

“We would stay here if there wasn’t the need to downsize. It’s something we imagined doing maybe when the girls finished school, but events have overtaken us, so we’ve had to move plans forward,” the 7 Days host said.

“It’s just lifestyle change – looking at my industry, my age and all that stuff and saying, ‘Hey, we’d like to have a bit more leisure time’.”
Corbett and wife Megan bought the five-bedroom house on Sharpe Road, in Epsom, a decade ago, for just over $3 million, telling OneRoof that it had been “love at first sight”.
“Breaking up” with the home would be hard for the family.
“It’s a bit sad [but] at the same time it’s a funny one, not really wanting to sell but sort of having to. We’re looking for something a little bit smaller, a little bit more manageable that will give us more time to go away with the girls on holiday.”

Corbett is in a better position than most in his industry. In April, 7 Days will start recording its 17th season. Its long run practically makes it the “Country Calendar of comedy”, he joked.
“I’m very fortunate that I’m one of the few people in the media industry that’s still gainfully employed,” he told OneRoof.
“It’s bloody stupid, isn’t it? People say, ‘Not only does 7 Days still run, but you’re still hosting it’. I say I’m no longer considered cast, I’m part of the set. So, there’s no threat of me being disposed of,” he said.

Corbett faced the harsh reality of the TV business when Three’s parent company, Warner Bros Discovery, axed The Project, the current affairs show he co-hosted with Jesse Mulligan and Kanoa Lloyd.
Corbett said the house wasn’t at all what he thought he’d be buying when he and Megan found it a decade ago. They had just sold their renovated house in neighbouring Mount Eden, and the two-storey Arts and Crafts-style brick home did not tick any of the sensible things on their list.
“We walked into this place and threw our list with all the things that we wanted out. We both fell in love with it,” he said.
“It was just out of our reach – we really had to stretch to make it. It’s a stupid way to buy a house, but we had such a great vibe and it turned out to be true. I do love the house and the grandeur of it. It’s lovely to come home to.”
He added: “I think if you told me back in student days that I’d be living in a million-dollar house or whatever, I’d have imagined glass and steel.”

Today, it’s all about pruning roses, mowing lawns and walking the family dog, Cookie. Just a cow sculpture posing in the immaculate front yard hints at the couple’s off-beat humour. Jeremy tracked it down when a local bookshop was closing down and gave it to Megan for an anniversary gift, but the rest of the house is classic suburbia, with neat hedges out front, paneled timber inside, and a huge swimming pool out the back.
The comedian loves his wood-panelled study, which he uses for writing and play-time. The classic guitars hanging on the walls, from Fender and Gibson, do get a workout. Little known fact: the comedian still plays in a band known as Dosage B (don’t ask where the name came from, he’d rather not go there).
“Even if I explained the name, it’s not cool. We’re definitely not a cool band. We played covers and a few originals, and the drummer is still a big fan of getting us together. We just play like three songs,” he said.
“I’m better at buying guitars than I am at playing them. One of them is a Stevie Ray Vaughan copy, an amazing blues guitarist out of Texas. I bought it and now feel silly."
The 7 Days crowd are regulars for Super Bowl parties – Paul Ego, Dai Henwood, Michele A’Court – and Corbett still gets together with the former news reader from the long-running Kim and Corbett More FM show, Hillary Barry (she joined the show in 1998, five years after it launched).
Bayleys agent Lorraine Young declined to comment on the price expectations for the property, which goes to auction on April 9.
“It’s a very comfortable family home, just wonderful for entertaining. There are three living areas, four fireplaces, and that 10m pool is just gold,” she said.
“It’s the centre of Epsom, midway between Epsom Girls and Grammar school and one of only a dozen houses on a very quiet street.”
