When the new owners of Ahipara Holiday Park took over in August 2024, they faced a challenge: the park’s facilities were in dire need of an upgrade – and peak season was looming.

Aimee and Cormac O’Keeffe could see the ablutions block – including bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and accessible units – needed a complete overhaul. But just four months out from Christmas, it had to be done quickly.

With over 400 guests expected for the summer holidays, Aimee and Cormac wanted to provide modern, functional communal facilities for their guests and elevate the campground’s standards.

The pressure was on to complete the project swiftly, as “the owners were running the risk of being without proper facilities during their busiest time of year,” recalls Joseph Simpkin, Director at Advance Build. “They were worried this could impact their guests’ experience and affect their campground rating.”

That's when Aimee and Cormac approached Advance Build.

Advance Build offered a solution that traditional construction couldn’t match: prefabricated holiday park construction. Aimee and Cormac knew this meant they could complete their facilities quickly – and without the risk of budget blowouts. It allowed for a rapid turnaround, with the project taking just four months from contract signing to completion.

Advance Build's off-site manufacturing process also meant minimal disruption to the holiday park's daily activities.

“Our in-house planning and architectural team did an amazing job completing the architectural drawings and obtaining all consents in under one month,” says Joseph. “For a project of this complexity, this is unheard of.”

“The ablution block was built in September and delivered to the site in early November. Before the peak season kicked off in mid-December, we’d obtained all council compliance certificates, allowing for a seamless handover to the owners.”

Aimee O’Keeffe was impressed with the speed of construction and the team's expertise.

“We chose Advance Build because they offered a fast build time and a team that was easy to work with,” says Aimee. “Throughout the process, communication was excellent and the team was open to our ideas.”

She says the process was straightforward and stress-free from day 1. That’s because Advance Build managed every aspect of the project, including:

- Design

- Planning

- Resource + building consents

- Infrastructure

- Project management

- Council compliance.

“Throughout every stage – from initial contact to the development and building phases – Advance Build was great. They handled all the time-consuming tasks with council and kept us up-to-date on progress,” she tells Advance Build.

A holiday park’s amenities are heavily used, so quality and durability were key. The Advance Build team delivered a facilities block that was not only built to last, it was customised to the needs of the Ahipara Holiday Park.

“The team translated our ideas into a high-quality, functional space that suits both our business needs and guest expectation,” explains Aimee. “The finished result is outstanding – they brought our vision to life with innovation and attention to detail.”

“We’ve had great feedback from guests and our team and we’re proud of the space we now offer. We absolutely recommend Advance Build – you’ll be amazed by the result!”
