Site sales specialist James Appleby has moved to the Colliers Auckland Investment Sales team.
After returning to Colliers last year and working in West Auckland, Appleby’s role in the CBD office will allow him to collaborate with a range of service lines within the business.
His extensive experience in the land sales sector makes him well placed to work alongside the Capital Markets, Strategic Advisory, and Residential Project Marketing teams to provide strategic thinking to bolster their offering and deliver the best possible outcomes for clients.
Having worked in the property industry for more than a decade, Appleby has negotiated an array of complex transactions, highlighting his expertise and relationship management ability.

“I am excited to join the Investment Sales team in Auckland CBD and look forward to working alongside some of the other teams across Colliers to ensure we continue to provide market-leading service and insights,” Appleby says.
While sales volumes of late have been down on previous years for development sites, there is cause for optimism looking forward.
The recent cut to the Official Cash Rate from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, coupled with the likelihood of further cuts before the end of the year, will contribute to the lowering of mortgage rates.
This will have positive flow-on effects across the broader economy.
“Developers are aware they will need to be delivering more houses into the market over the next 24 months as demand gets stronger as buyers feel more comfortable about their ability to service a mortgage,” Appleby says.
“Sites that remain attractive to developers are rectangular landholdings with a flat contour that are well positioned near good transport links and offer convenience for residents.”
Prior to working in the property industry, Appleby was a qualified engineer and spent time in the manufacturing and power generation sectors. He has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Commercial Law from the University of Auckland.
The Auckland Investment Sales team is led by David Burley and has extensive experience in the sales and leasing of commercial assets across the wider region.
Burley, Auckland Director of Investment Sales at Colliers, says Appleby’s expertise in the development land market will be hugely valuable.
“James is a highly experienced property professional and we are excited to have him bring his knowledge to our team,” Burley says.
“He has a broad array of clients and has established himself as a market leader selling residential development sites. I look forward to watching his career continue to flourish as part of our high-performing team.”
