The agency has pitched the giveaway as part of the Black Friday (November 29) shopping frenzy that has made its way into the New Zealand retail lexicon.
The offer – which will see the first five buyers who sign up before November 29 get a $50,000 Toyota Camry Hybrid GX – has been heavily marketed on Chinese social media WeChat as well as YouTube and Facebook.
Paul Ko, branch manager of Harcourts Golden Links Three Kings, told OneRoof: “First-home buyers and young people, they can have a brand-new house and a brand-new car. The units are already finished, so if the buyers move in before Christmas they can have a Christmas gift.”
“I think we’re the first real estate agency to do a Black Friday promotion.”

Ko said his agency had a good business relationship with the developer, Unispot, which has just completed the four-bedroom houses as part of its 140-house project at The Glade, on Mangahoe Road, in Mount Wellington.
Ko said the houses had a $799,000 price tag – below the advertised valuation of $900,000.
The promotion appears to be working, with three homes already under contract. To qualify for the car, the buyers have to go unconditional, Harcourts Miro Wang told OneRoof.
He said buyers had the option to select a different car model or negotiate a price discount on the homes.
Ko said his agency had sold around 300 Unispot homes over the years but made no bones about the importance of the promotion in building the office’s profile.
“Three years ago with [co-owner] James Shen we started this agency from scratch. We specialise in projects across Auckland, from Albany and Orewa to Drury and west to Henderson and Hobsonville Point,” Ko said.
“In the last two years, the market is a little rough, but with interest rates going lower and lower, we expect an 8% to 10% increase next year. We are pretty proud of ourselves, a new company making profit, so we believe this promotion is a good investment for next year.”
Listing agent Miro Wang said that 2024 has been the hardest year of his 10 years in real estate.
“In a good market, whatever marketing you do, no one hears you because everyone is doing it. But if you do something at the bottom of the market, people will notice,” he said.
“We made the huge decision to do this, and Unispot is the lucky developer, because their project is ready to go.
“We believe in pay first and then we get that back later on. It’s very positive. The cars mean people can make a quick decision.”
