Too hard to get a drink when you’re lounging in the pool?
This luxury holiday estate in Taipa, just above Doubtless Bay, has the answer: a bar cabana right in the middle of the swimming pool.
There are handy stepping stones to reach it too, thoughtfully provided when the owners of this huge house renovated and landscaped this former Taipa Sands Motel into a luxury beach home in 2017.
You don't need to go far to seek entertainment in this house of over 718 sq m. The cabana is the centre-piece of the pool (it has a barbecue and pizza oven too, if you’re hungry), but there’s also a billiards room, a retro bay bar. And, at the bottom of the garden, the ocean waves for surfing and fishing.

Arcline Architecture and KPH Construction stripped down the former Taipa Sands Motel to just its foundation and block walls, collaboratively completing a large renovation to make the Adamson Road property a luxury beachfront home. There are now two self-contained guest accommodation suites and multiple entertainment areas.
What used to be the Taipa Sands Motel is now a luxury estate.
The lower storey consists of connected six car garaging, a fully refurbished man cave, the laundry and a guest suite.
The man cave is a homage to the 1960s, complete with a shiny red bar, a vintage fridge, huge TV, a pool table and retro décor.
The second level has a lounge, dining and outdoor areas, kitchen, scullery, and two bedrooms one of which is master.
The main residence also has a lift between the ground and first floors.
If that’s not enough parking, separate to the main residence is another large garage that fits another eight or so cars. It too is decorated into an old-times street scene with streetlamps and verandas around the internal walls of the garage.
The complex also has a retro bar with a pool table and games.
And then there’s the stand out feature of the property, the swimming pool with entertainment cabana right in the centre.
Floating tiled paves lead the way to this fully equipped entertaining area complete with pizza oven barbecue kitchenette and seating area.
To top it all off, just over the 30-metre grass reserve in front of the home is the golden sands of Taipa Beach, looking out to the amazing Doubtless Bay.
Owners Debbie and Max are selling as they are based in Australia and don't spend enough time at the property.
Debbie says the renovation project was a "huge adventure".
"I'm the minimalist and my husband collects everything so we tried to blend those things together," she says.
The Bayleys agent marketing the property, Irene Bremner, says the 718 sq m home is turning heads in Northland.
“Places like this don’t come up very often up North, I haven’t seen anything like it.”
Scheduled to be auctioned on November 27, the waterfront property is located on a 3764 sq m of freehold land and is less than a half-hour drive to Kaitaia.
