Experienced property professional Josh Coburn has joined the Colliers Capital Markets team and will be based in the organisation’s head office in Auckland CBD.

After spending six years as the general manager of the Colliers West Auckland office where he led a team of seven brokers during a period of sustained growth, Coburn will now bring his intricate knowledge of site sales and development land to the Capital Markets division.

Coburn has more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial property industry, which includes a combined 16 years at Colliers across two separate stints that were punctuated by a four-year spell with a construction company that focused on the development of commercial and industrial properties, and commercial-scale residential opportunities.

During his time with Colliers Coburn has transacted more than $3 billion in sales, much of which has been development land, and during the past five years has clearly established himself as a market leader in this space.

Coburn, Director of Capital Markets and Site Sales at Colliers, says the projects he has worked on during the past few years have left him well positioned to add value to the Capital Markets team.

“I am passionate about having the opportunity to continue to work on large-scale site sales and with development land, while also growing my relationships within the corporate and institutional space where the team are already so strong. This is a natural fit for me given the work our two teams have done together already and our complementary skill sets,” Coburn says.

“I am excited about joining a high-performing team that continues to set the standard in the marketplace through its collaborative and strategic approach.”

The Colliers Capital Markets division has a thorough working knowledge of active local, national, and international buyers.

National Director Peter Herdson leads the team that also includes Director Blair Peterken and International Sales Director Richard Kirke as well as Senior Analyst Dipesh Patel, and Sales & Marketing Coordinator Rose Li.

The team has sold many of the largest and most complex property assets in New Zealand across the retail, commercial, and development sectors.

During the past 12 months, they have transacted more than $1 billion in sales throughout the country, including 40 and 44 Bowen Street in Wellington, Northlands Mall in Christchurch, Countdown Māngere in South Auckland, the under-construction office tower at 50 Albert Street in central Auckland, and a thriving retail centre at 22 Stoddard Road in Mount Roskill, among others.

Herdson says Coburn’s experience will add a new dimension to the Capital Markets team.

“We are thrilled to be able to secure the services of someone who has such a wide depth of knowledge across the property industry,” Herdson says.

“Having someone with Josh’s level of expertise in the development land sector is hugely exciting for the future as we continue to explore new opportunities and deliver market-leading service to accelerate the success of our clients.”
