This 823sqm architectural masterpiece is the newest jewel in the crown of the prestigious Paritai Drive promontory and showcases extraordinary views of Auckland’s skyline and busy harbour.
The landmark 1434sqm corner site at 92 Paritai Drive, in Orakei, was previously occupied by a well-known Ron Sang-designed residence that the current owners rebuilt and completely reimagined – an intense, meticulously detailed project that took almost five years.
They enlisted the help of architects Young and Richards to transform it into a palatial yet elegantly modern and functional home, which is now of an undeniably international standard.
The house is proportioned and equipped to suit families, guests and staff with ease and comes with features like a second catering kitchen, a gym, a bunker, luxurious spa-like bathrooms, an infinity pool, a 106sqm master suite and a Schindler elevator with gold satin finish.

Built from solid concrete, the house is a functional work of art and a feast for the senses – adorned with an inspired, textural palette of rare materials and award-winning sculptural features.
“We wanted to build something really special for ourselves,” one of the owners says. “The interiors were my wife’s vision.”
The couple scoured the globe in their quest to source the perfect finishes and accoutrements, and were also inspired by time spent while staying at the world’s most lavish hotels.
“The materials were a mission to source and took a long time. We used Roman travertine right through the inside and rare pieces, like the Amazonite in the lobby. I was quite involved right throughout and I believe the marble and the way we have used it is rare for New Zealand,” he says.
The centrepiece is the curved oak staircase that climbs three levels, and took Singapore-based Weijenberg two years to build.
The colour palette has been kept deliberately light, so as not to compete with the vistas and to display art.
Although incredibly rich and full of depth, the colour palette has been kept deliberately light, so as not to compete with the vistas and so that people can curate the spaces to suit their personal taste and display their own objects and art.
The home’s bespoke centrepiece and major talking point is the curved oak staircase that climbs three levels. It was created by Singapore-based Weijenberg, an interior design studio famed for their sculptural carved pieces, and won a Master Joiners Award in 2022.
“We wanted something amazing – it took roughly two years to build.”
The stairwell is enveloped within intricately hand carved natural stone pieces and accesses the art gallery corridor on the upper floor.
Light, views and warmth are masterfully captured through walls of floor-to-ceiling glass along the northern side, with the main living level on the first floor entry level.
A series of formal and more casual zones flow seamlessly from one to the next, with timber accents creating an inviting, intimate feel and the double height dining space illuminated with a spectacular light feature.
The kitchen – what the owners call “the café” – is a place to gather and socialise, while the separate main chef’s kitchen tucked behind is equipped with Gaggenau appliances and can cater for 200 guests.
92 Paritai Drive, in Orakei, has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and garaging for six vehicles, all in an 823sqm floor plan on a 1434sqm corner section.
A convenient separate entrance provides access for staff and contractors and there is also a maid’s quarters or au pair accommodation on this level.
Three bedrooms upstairs are each serviced by their own opulent bathroom, each enjoying their own deck and dressing room. Six-car internal garaging, the gym and secure room are located on the lower floor.
As well as state-of-the-art security systems, the house features fully automated lighting, door handles, heating and cooling, security, irrigation and locks for added convenience.
While this is one of the largest homes to grace the area, seclusion is paramount.
“We are very private people so we built the house in a manner so that your privacy stays intact.”
With ever-increasing building costs and land of this size and calibre at a premium in Auckland, the beauty of this property is that absolutely everything has been done and to an exemplary standard.
Buyers can simply walk in and enjoy all the owners’ hard work. 92 Paritai Drive, which has a 2021 CV of $19.5 million, is for sale by international tender, closing July 4.
The kitchen – which the owners call “the café” – is a place to gather and socialise.

“The vista across the harbour is just extraordinary – you’re overlooking the historic Ngapipi Road boatsheds and Orakei Marina out front.
“With the way the accommodation has been put onto the site, you’ve essentially got views of Rangitoto from the back bedrooms and from the master bedroom you’re looking at a vista that runs from Sky City all the way around to Devonport.”
