For the owner of 10A Pikitea Road, it’s not just the innovative, inspired architecture that makes her home such a special place to live, but the wonderful sense of community she enjoys living in her neighbourhood.

“When I first moved to Auckland way, way back, I moved to Mangere Bridge. So in some ways this was a full circle moment for me. Since then I’ve lived in Ellerslie and Onehunga, but have returned to Mangere Bridge. It was like coming home,” she says.

She loves that the family-friendly area is like its own little community.

“You’ve got the village with cafes and shops, the mini supermarket and all your suppliers – my hedge cutter, my plumber and my sparkie all live in the Bridge.”

The contemporary design incorporates a unique structure built with striking curves and features extensive use of American and Brazilian Ash timber. A prime position also showcases spectacular views of Ambury Regional Park, Mangere Mountain cone and the Manukau Harbour.

“They had some really cool ideas, it’s very clever and there are lots of little elements that make living here so easy,” she says.

Natural light illuminates the open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge on the top floor. The well-equipped kitchen is the heart of the space and has a feature black tiled splashback and large central island with a stainless-steel benchtop, plus push-to-open-cabinetry, an induction hob and boiling water on tap.

This space flows out to the deck via floor-to-ceiling glass stacking doors. With its LouvreTec canopy, this is like another room in summer and captures dazzling sunsets and expansive harbour vistas.

On the ground floor, there are two good-sized double bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as an office in the circular area that could also be utilised as a kid’s TV room. Up half a flight of stairs is another bedroom and the luxurious master retreat. This has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, as well as views of Mangere Mountain.

“I wake up to birdsong and can lie in bed and look straight up at the mountain.”

The home is energy efficient and offers its next owner excellent peace of mind, now and in the future. Features include cutting edge PDL switchgear, double glazing and a 25-year guarantee on the Colorsteel cladding and roofing.

The outdoor area is also pre-wired to accommodate a spa pool and has a cable for an EV charger. The property is easy care, enveloped with low maintenance landscaped grounds that have been designed to keep gardening to a minimum.

This means weekends are left free to explore the extraordinary green spaces within the local area, including neighbouring Pikitea Road Reserve, Ambury Farm, Mangere Lagoon Path and the mountain, which is home to the local soccer, tennis and softball clubs.

The owner has enjoyed everything about living here. “The house is phenomenal and the street is amazing. It’s a really cool neighbourhood and I feel safe here.”

Listing agent Lachlan Farmer, from Ray White, who is marketing the property with colleague Jared Cooksley, says that homes of this architectural standard offering this kind of modern set up rarely come to market.

“This is the perfect home, encapsulating panoramic views of the Manukau Harbour and beyond. It’s an architecturally-designed property that caters for those buyers who think outside the square.”
