When the developers set out to design The Hatch – The Mount they wanted to create an exciting commercial hub that embodied the concept of work, store, play.

With that in mind, the micro-unit development in the centre of Mount Maunganui will offer prospective purchasers the chance to secure a highly functional workspace that will suit a wide range of needs.

The Hatch – The Mount will be located at 24-32 MacDonald Street and will comprise 38 units ranging in size from 60sq m to 106sq m.

Most units will come with two car parks, while there is additional parking available for lease.

Construction is set to get underway in mid-2023.

The site is surrounded by popular local amenities such as a gym, supermarket, and childcare centres and is situated in a key industrial precinct just by the flyover, only minutes from the Mount Maunganui town centre and Bayfair Shopping Centre.

The Hatch will be organised into four blocks with a large car park at the rear of the site. Two main carriageways – flanked by the light industrial units that run along the boundary on each side –are accessed from dual entrances off MacDonald Street and are linked by a laneway that provides access to the office-styled units and the rear of the retail-styled units that run along the street front.

Colliers Brokers Simon Clark and Rob Schoeser have been exclusively appointed to market The Hatch for sale with units priced from $754,000 plus GST, if any.

Matt Allen from Cube Architecture has produced a thoughtful design that facilitates easy circulation around the precinct but also energises the public space with activity from the orientation of the different unit types.

Open roller doors – and their eclectic interiors – will offer a constant buzz to the main carriageways, while the offices will enjoy a calmer outlook to the laneway.

Clark, Managing Director at Colliers Tauranga, says the units will provide a future-focused workspace for businesses who want to optimise their productivity.

“Developed with adaptable and accessible use in mind, The Hatch's masterplan allows for easy circulation with units constructed from quality, durable materials that culminate in a sophisticated industrial aesthetic,” Clark says.

“Like its sister development in Papamoa, The Hatch — The Mount is an innovative, design-led precinct that fuses commercial and light industrial into hybrid workspaces perfect for forward-thinking businesses.

“Whether you’re setting up a new venture, looking for more versatile premises, or simply need somewhere to store your toys, The Hatch — The Mount offers a unique solution at a competitive price point.”

Schoeser, Commercial and Industrial Sales Broker at Colliers Tauranga, says the location of the site will be highly appealing for buyers given the seamless connectivity it provides.

“This is a unique development and other than The Hatch in Papamoa we haven’t seen anything like it. The units have just hit the market and we’re expecting a very high level of interest,” Schoeser says.

“The Hatch in the Mount is situated just off the Hewletts Road intersection near State Highway 2. This major arterial route provides easy connectivity between downtown Mount Maunganui, Tauranga’s CBD, and Papamoa.

“The Hatch is strategically located within 5km of the region’s major transport hubs, enabling future occupants to make light work of delivery and logistics to and from the site. Easy access to the port and airport will make The Hatch the perfect option for a diverse range of SMEs, including small-scale distribution and satellite offices.

“Omanu Beach can be reached via a three-minute drive, while Bayfair Shopping Centre is just five minutes away.”

Clark says given the flexibility on offer from these units, there will be strong demand among prospective purchasers who will have the opportunity to acquire a newly built premise in a sought-after location.

“With the functionality these micro units will provide, they will be highly desirable to a range of future occupants."
