Kiwi social media influencer and health specialist Gina Urlich has found a buyer for her Hawke’s Bay home just two weeks after it hit the market.

The sale means the mother of four will be able to explore new treatments overseas as she battles an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer.

The property had been inviting interest over $2 million and while Oliver Road listing agent Nic Goodman could not reveal the sale price, she confirmed it was north of that. The Ulrichs paid $2.13m for it in August 2022.

Goodman said the sale was “bittersweet” for the Urlich family who were saying farewell to their beautiful home, but could now explore treatment options overseas.

Urlich received the shock diagnosis that she had stage 4 stomach cancer in January this year and has endured a tough nine months including numerous surgeries.

She has bravely shared her devastating journey with her now 100,000-plus followers on her social media accounts, which mainly focus on women’s health issues.

Earlier this month, Ulrich posted that her home was for sale: “We love this home and have lots of beautiful memories here, but the priority is to simplify our lives, move closer to family and fund my treatment.”

Within two weeks, in another Instagram post, she confirmed at the weekend that her house of two years had sold and thanked everyone for their help.

Goodman was one of nine local businesses and three national property websites including OneRoof who donated their services either for free or at a minimal cost to help the young family. The work they provided including the staging, photography, videography and marketing material which had all helped sell the house, she said.

“They [other businesses] were incredible, they could have said ‘that’s nice but no thanks’,” Goodman said.

Goodman said it was the most interest she had received on a property for a long time. The listing received over 12,000 views and 170 property information pack downloads.

“It was super busy.”

Most people viewing the property lived in the Hawke’s Bay area and had been looking to move from town to a lifestyle property, she said.

The deadline had been brought forward by two weeks after the four-year-old home went into a multi-offer situation. The new owners are a local family.

While Ulrich had shared the listing with her 100,000-plus Instagram followers, Goodman said a lot of people who attended the open homes were not aware of her story and had just been drawn to the house itself.

“That definitely contributed to it, but our marketing did look really good and it’s probably a little bit unusual on the market at the moment in terms of what it offered.

“People like the fact that the house was modern, those gorgeous views, the in-ground pool, the shed – just kind of the whole package really.”
