The architecturally -designed Marlborough apartment building in picturesque Launch Bay, Hobsonville Point, is about to offer one, two and three bedroom apartments to first home buyers through the Axis Series ballot.
Axis homes are for people buying their first home who, because of the tough Auckland housing market, might otherwise be shut out of moving into quality homes in good locations.
With The Marlborough, they get both quality and a great area to live in, says Simon Ash, General Manager for the Winton property group overseeing the master-planned Launch Bay community just minutes from the ferry and vibrant Catalina Bay.
“The Marlborough is our entrance piece into Launch Bay,” Ash explains.

Work on the six-storey building with 39 apartments will start next month with an 18-month time frame for completion.
The building will set the tone when you enter the Launch Bay precinct - once home to a military airfield and seaplane base but now an exclusive harbour front residential community.
The crisp architectural lines at the back of the building will soften at the front in order to tie in with the oval green recreational space at the centre of the precinct, and also with some of Winton’s other products there, such as the top-notch Ovation Apartments, Officers’ Houses and Oval Houses.
“The DNA and shared material of the builds all tie in with the sea, nature and forest all around Hobsonville Point,” says Ash.
“This is a premium precinct and with this apartment building we wanted to make sure we covered all parts of the market, so first home buyers, young professionals and couples have the ability to purchase in the area.
“This product is really our way of being able to give back to interested buyers who want to live in the heart of Hobsonville Point, close to the water and shops, and live in a very lovely precinct.”
Of the 39 high-quality apartments, 28 are being offered via the Axis programme with 11 to be sold on the open market.
The Axis programme targets first home buyers that meet Axis criteria and means the pricing is set, with one-bedroom apartments capped at $500,000, two bedrooms capped at $600,000 and three bedrooms capped at $650,000. The first ballot for The Marlborough is quickly coming up on July 29 for the first five apartments, all of which are on the ground floor, with a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.“We encourage everyone to apply from now and come down to Launch Bay to experience the area for themselves,” Ash says.
“It’s a fantastic offering to the market in a really great spot – it’s an opportunity for first home buyers to be part of Launch Bay.
“Hobsonville Point is becoming an incredibly vibrant community. The shared spaces and coastal walkways are popular and at Launch Bay there’s the beautiful Jimmy’s Point lookout which looks over the water. You can walk across the oval and straight down to the sea or Catalina Bay and the restaurants and Farmers Market, or take the art trail along the five kilometre walkway around Hobsonville Point which has beautiful sculptures all the way around.”
While The Marlborough doesn’t have car parks, there is plenty of street parking and is close to public transport. There will be bike and scooter storage, or there’s the option to jump in a City Hop car.
Ash says The Marlborough buyer is likely to be someone who wants to be connected to transport links without the hassle and cost of owning a car, yet still have everything at their fingertips.
The apartments themselves are cleverly designed to be spacious with great flow to either a balcony, or a ground floor patio.
