A lifestyle property with its own beach and cove has hit the market for sale with an asking price of $1.6 million.
The three-bedroom home at 52 Beach Road, in Urenui, is close to the popular Urenui Beach Camp and has been owned by the same family for more than 30 years.
Listing agent Cindy James, from Property Brokers, told OneRoof the property would make a great holiday home, revealing that she had even considered buying it several years ago.
“It’s got a beach – you just walk down to it from the paddocks,” she said.

Only the owners of 52 Beach Road and a neighbour could access the cove by foot, she said. Everyone else, she added, had to come by water – although no one ever did.

The agent said the vendors’ children made good use of the beach. “The girls will go down there and swim,” she said. “One swims there every day – just dips in and out.”
The vendors’ family bought the property in the late 1980s and built a modern three-bedroom, two-bathroom home next to the original bach on the site.
The bach is used by overseas family members when they visit, but there is potential to run it as a home and income and put the studio on Airbnb.
James said both properties enjoyed uninterrupted views of the sea. “The view is just terrific. The sea is right there.”
Urenui is a popular summer destination, especially with New Plymouth residents, some of whom own leasehold properties at the nearby Urenui Beach Camp, which can only be occupied nine months of the year.
The area also had a unique microclimate, James said, adding that many holidaymakers spent entire summers there.
