The Colliers Retail Leasing team has welcomed Danielle McLaughlin into a brokerage role with a focus on Auckland’s south-eastern suburbs.

McLaughlin joined the Retail Leasing team as a Team Assistant in 2023 while she was completing her Bachelor of Property at the University of Auckland.

“During my time at university, I was always interested in getting into brokerage. When I started my role in the Retail Leasing team, it quickly became clear that it was the ideal fit for me,” McLaughlin says.

“I’m passionate about understanding the unique personality of assets and identifying what tenant would be ideal for that space.

“I want my work to help shape the retail scene for the benefit of both the tenant and the landlord, as well as the surrounding community.”

During her time with the team, McLaughlin has developed an extensive knowledge of Auckland’s retail scene. The role exposed her to over 100 transactions and gave her the opportunity to gain experience with the leasing process.

“My team have been incredibly supportive. They all knew that I was working toward a role in brokerage, so they’ve all been very inclusive in helping me develop as much understanding of as many different aspects of leasing as possible.

“Zoe Hall has been particularly helpful in taking me on viewings and providing advice, pointing out aspects of the role that I should be mindful of when officially starting in brokerage.”

Hall, a Retail Leasing Broker specialising in the city fringe, also started in a support role, joining Colliers in 2018 as a Marketing Assistant.

Since her start in brokerage, Hall has become a high-performing member of the team, receiving the Andrew Hooper MVP Brokerage award at the 2023 Colliers awards night in Auckland.

McLaughlin will have the support of highly experienced Directors Leroy Wolland, who has transacted a number of significant deals in the large format retail space during the past 20 years, and Helen Hollis, who has extensive experience in the retail sector.

Hollis is currently leasing the upcoming Mānawa Bay retail precinct alongside the Auckland Airport teams and previously delivered the leasing of Sylvia Park Shopping Centre for 11 years.

Located five minutes from Auckland Airport, Mānawa Bay is set to open in September, offering a premium outlet shopping experience with well-known brands, including Nike, Coach, Calvin Klein, Swarovski, and Tommy Hilfiger.

“Danielle has been a major asset to our team, providing invaluable support and quickly mastering the intricacies of the retail market,” Hollis says.

“Her enthusiasm, effiency, and excellent communication skills are exactly what Colliers and our clients seek in an effective Broker. Danielle is passionate about retail and excels at making the perfect match for both landlords and tenants.

“Danielle has hit the ground running and we can’t wait to see her make her mark on the market.”
