“The house just ticks all the boxes,” she says.
The five active bidders were competing hard.
“The first bid opened relatively high and at the end it was a tight three-horse race,” she says.
The house was sold to a couple in their 60s who want a spacious home for times when their children and grandchildren visit from overseas.

The American couple, who sold their renovated Devonport home, were very happy to sell for above their dream price, Simmons says.
The 1910 renovated four-bedroom villa has a mix of traditional charm and Scandinavian aesthetics and is a street away from the beach.
The couple worked with a Devonport designer Paul Spooner in a long-distance collaboration with their Seattle-based designer Lisa Staton. They had previously collaborated worked with Staton when they had renovated two homes in America.

The designers turned the former master bedroom into a second lounge and created a home office out of a wardrobe. They closed off the en-suite bathroom and updated it for their new bedroom.
The renovation included adding demolition kauri flooring, adding a contemporary colour scheme inside and out and refurbishing the garden entertainment terraces and pool. The couple are relocating to Singapore for their work.
