The two interior design schemes for apartments within Mountview Residences are evocatively inspired by the location’s local natural resources and historical industry.

Offering boutique apartments over 13 levels, the development by Canam Commercial was designed by Leuschke Group Architects with interior design by Jasmax Design.

The interior design principal of Jasmax, Anna Hill, says: “Before I do any project I analyse the location to find out anything interesting about it which can help provide inspiration for its interior design.

“This building’s elevated position will deliver commanding views to the city, North Shore, and out to Rangitoto and Waiheke with immediate views over Auckland Domain.

“The fresh water and natural textures of the historical water reservoirs of Auckland Domain inspired the first of my interior design schemes for Mountview, the natural scheme.

“Lion Brewery’s Head Office was once at this address and the other scheme, the machined scheme, is inspired by the earthy colours and equipment of the historic local brewing industry.”

These directions influenced the interior materials, palette and design, with the machined scheme offering a stronger, darker palette.

The double grammar-zoned apartments at 2 Mountain Road in Epsom are due for completion in 2024. They’ll range from one bedroom to four bedrooms, featuring a crowning penthouse level and two sub-penthouse levels.

Hill also provided additional input on floor plans, with the building’s shape partly influenced by view shafts.

“It was important that every apartment have the most usable, thoughtful layout possible and as a result there are 21 different layouts in total, providing a lot of variety.

“The lifts are quite central within the building, maximising apartment’s access to natural light, with floor-to-ceiling windows and large floor-to-ceiling doors opening out to balconies of differing size.”

Recognising the prevalence of working from home, all layouts include at least one space where a work station could be set up. Some apartments have media rooms and there are also two-storey walk-up apartments at ground level.

Kitchens are custom designed, featuring a glass-doored feature cabinet above splashbacks, illuminated to display special items. Benchtops are granite or marble depending on the interior design scheme chosen, with Bosch or Gaggenau appliances.

Bayleys agent Paula Halford says: “Jasmax have masterfully used the surroundings, which include some of Auckland’s most picturesque green spaces, as inspiration to create an interior design that is warm in ambiance and stunning in design.

“We are fortunate to have an onsite display suite that features a fully spec'd kitchen and bathroom, which helps envisage what the finished product will look like.” The onsite display suite is open by appointment.
