There was little doubt in Sarah and Rob Elliot’s minds about where they wanted to live when they endeavoured to buy their family home some five years ago.
Northcote Point was precisely the best location for their daily commute, Sarah to the city and Rob to Takapuna.
Besides the community and surroundings of Northcote Point, they were instantly charmed by the beautifully renovated bungalow at 25 Church Street at the centre of the sought-after locale.

Not particularly game for a major renovation, the couple needed a home that was mostly done but with the leniency to add their own touches.
Beautifully maintained traditional features, bungalow windows and joinery merge with a contemporary kitchen and bathrooms that delivered the perfect balance for the pair.

Sarah says her favourite part of the home is the expansive master bedroom.

With an ensuite, walk in wardrobe and study, she says, “it’s the perfect place to retreat, it’s great to have that little hideaway.”
One of four generous bedrooms in the home, coupled with multiple living areas, the home has provided their young family with ample space.
For Rob, however, the outdoor entertaining area is unquestionably his favourite aspect. The couple added the exterior awning and built-in BBQ granting year-round entertaining.
“It’s increased the space so much, it’s doubled the living area,” he says.

The deck extends onto a large, flat lawn bordered by manicured pittosporum hedges and titoki, adding privacy and a verdant surround to their back lawn.
“When we first viewed the home, the expanse of the home and the open plan living appealed, it’s the ideal property for raising children, it has been great family living,” says Rob.
The kitchen and dining area is a sleek and minimalist space, laid with pale wooden floors, creamy hues, white stone bench tops and cabinetry, accented with chrome fittings and tapware.

Adding to the home’s character, Rob and Sarah commissioned a Nelson artist to design and create the bespoke stained-glass windows, welcoming visitors along with the trail of white roses lining the home’s entrance.
The couple reference the convenience of the home’s proximity to the celebrated Engine Room, Northcote Tavern and Bridgeway Theatre, a stroll away, as are the children’s school and kindergarten.
“It’s a perfect commuting distance to town. The home is a peaceful sanctuary while being so close to everything. The community is fabulous, Church Street has almost a festival atmosphere come Halloween,” says Sarah.

Ray White agent Charlotte Kofoed, who is marketing the property to be sold by auction with Hamish Kofoed, says, “True executive-level property of this calibre and scale is so rarely available.
“I always think of Northcote Point as a ‘best kept secret’ suburb. We recommend buyers put this great area (and this special home) on their viewing list immediately.”
25 Church Street in Northcote Point, North Shore will be sold at auction on March 9.
