When Frank and Michelle Timmins were looking for a home to retire in, they had two non-negotiables. It had to have a view, and there had to be plenty of room for the boat.
“As soon as we walked into this property, I thought, ‘This is the one’,” Michelle says of 131 Omaha Drive in Omaha.
“It wasn’t the home that sold me, although we love it. It was the expansive views across the water.
“I just had to convince Frank. But as long as he could have a boat garage and enough room for his Mustangs, I knew he’d be sold.”

The water views are the highlight of 131 Omaha Drive in Omaha, Rodney. Out of just about every window is an expansive and ever-changing vista across the Whangateau Harbour.
“Every day the view out our window is different,” Michelle says. “We can watch water skiers, jet boats, kite surfers, paddle boarders, and when the tide’s out there are horse riders.
“We’ve even seen orcas out in the harbour. But for me the highlight is the magnificent sunsets. It’s such a delight to sit out on the deck and watch the sky change colour at the end of the day.”
The ability to share the view with others is almost as good as the view itself.

Upstairs, the executive-style entertainer’s kitchen opens onto a wraparound deck that captures the best of the outlook and sun at various times of the day.
Meanwhile, the LouvreTec loggia seamlessly extends the interior living and dining spaces, creating a comfortable entertaining space that can be used all year round.
Multiple living spaces create room and privacy for the whole family too.
Downstairs are two spacious bedrooms that open out onto the garden along with a second living room which has been used for a teenage getaway and separate media room.

And then there’s the boat garage. “We added the oversized boat garage for Frank’s pride and joy,” Michelle says.
“But it also has a view and could very easily be converted into a standalone apartment for extended family. Our sons have had 20 people sleeping downstairs before because there’s just so much room.”
Bayleys agent Paul Elsden says aside from the views, the location makes this property a premium offering in Omaha.

“‘Oh wow, what a view!’ are normally the first words we’ve heard when people have viewed this property,” he says.
“But the next comment we hear is just so close this property is to everything. New owners can leave the car at home and walk to golf, tennis, bowls, and of course the beach. This property has everything you need and nothing you don’t for relaxed beachside living.”
Elsden and his colleagues Victoria Turner and Joneen Smith are marketing the property.

For Michelle and Frank, it’s time to downsize.
“Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves because we live in one of the best places in the world,” she says.
“The community is such a delight to be a part of, and we’ve made some incredible lifelong friendships. But our time in this house has come to an end. We’ll miss it terribly, but we hope the next family who call it home will love it as much as we have.”
