The owners Liz and Grant have relished the past five years at the property, adding their touches with the help of interior designer Rhonda Murray.

“The layout has been fantastic for multi-generational living as we have two daughters with families of their own,” says Liz.

“The three separate pods gives everyone privacy, yet all under one roof.”

The main living and kitchen space is expansive with polished concrete floors, white walls, and an exceptionally modern chef’s kitchen and an elevated dining plinth.

Five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a media room spread over the home’s wings offer the ideal family and guest set up, each room enjoying the pairing of coastal and rural views.

Liz and Grant have focused much of their attention on the landscaping. Introducing a blend of native and coastal varieties amongst large Artedomus pots and timber accents.

“We wanted a very much tropical theme with kentia, hibiscus, dypsis baronii, chamaedorea and bromeliads, with constant planting to give structure and simplicity for ease of care,” says Liz.

The addition of the deck and heated pool have introduced an extra dimension of outdoor living.

“We can use all year round, it’s comfortable and luxurious. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces make for all season entertaining,” adds Liz.

The home’s position is arguably the best in Omaha.

“This end of Taumata is the closest to the beach you can get. We are closer to the water than a good portion of the front row houses that have a lot of reserve in front of them,” Liz says.

Ray White agent Heather Walton, who is marketing the property along with Rod Cheeseman, says, “When the original developer created the sections here they made every number 9 with a large viewing corridor that the homes on either side use as access to the beach. What this means for homes like 49 is that they have a wide unobstructed ocean view.

“These properties get the proximity of being on the beach side but are tucked away with the privacy not enjoyed by the absolute waterfront homes located on the public walkway.

“The recent sales on Taumata demonstrate just how special these ‘one back’ homes in Taumata are. I particularly love number 49 as it’s got spaces for everyone to come together and also has the privacy and separation meaning you can holiday here as a family for weeks on end.”

49 Taumata Road in Omaha, Rodney, Auckland is to be sold at auction on April 12.
