International homeware products store Panda Mart is opening at Northwood Supa Centa in Christchurch, its first store in the South Island.
The discount department store is taking the 6,100sq m space vacated by The Warehouse while boating, fishing, RV, and outdoor accessories brand Burnsco has leased the 880sq m previously occupied by Warehouse Stationery.
Nick Doig, Director of Retail Leasing at Colliers Christchurch, says other new entrants to the Supa Centa are Physio South, and Prime Range Fresh butchery.
“The signing of these new tenants to Northwood is great news for customers and we’re thrilled to secure an anchor offering in the form of Panda Mart.”

Panda Mart senior manager Amy Xie is excited at Panda Mart’s move into the South Island, after opening its first New Zealand store at Pakuranga Plaza earlier this year.
“Panda Mart is proving very successful in Auckland so we’re delighted that we can now enter the South Island.
"Northwood is an ideal debut location for us, with its diverse mix of retail, hospitality, and service offerings coupled with generous parking for customer convenience.”
Panda Mart, which sells everything from beauty and health products to home decor, tech electronics, and educational toys for kids, has approximately 35 stores throughout the world and is continuing to expand, Xie says.
They already operate numerous stores in South Africa.
Northwood has only one retail vacancy remaining of 1,440sq m plus a mezzanine.
Doig is in discussions with several businesses looking at the opportunity, who are encouraged by the calibre of tenants at Northwood.
Late last year the Supa Centa scored a coup with the addition of ever-popular retailer Spotlight, which has taken a substantial 12-year lease.
Locally owned Northwood Supa Centa covers 7.25ha on the corner of Radcliffe and Main North Roads in Belfast, with a net lettable area of 33,062sq m.
