“I’d always liked this particular street because of its lovely trees,” says the current owner of 9 Mahoe Avenue, in the heart of Remuera.
“We were looking to move into the double grammar zone, 10 years ago, and this house was just perfect for us.”
The elevated, character 1930s weatherboard bungalow had been well looked after but the owner says the interior was rather dated.
“Because the location was perfect, we decided to embark on a major renovation, which took some time and was completed in 2017,” the owner says. “We were very pleased with the results.”

With an internal access double garage, the ground floor also has a separate laundry, large family room and a bedroom and bathroom.
“It was so good when the children were teenagers because it meant that they had their own space.”
A combined open-plan living zone lies centrally on the second floor, with a fresh and contemporary entertainers’ kitchen which is equipped with high-quality appliances.
The owner says that she and her family have really loved having this wonderful area for themselves and for friends, and a separate formal lounge provides a pleasant getaway space for parents.

The second and third bedrooms share the spacious family bathroom, while the home office is ideal for anybody working remotely.

The garden is well-established and easy-care with a distinct subtropical style.
Now that their children have finished school, the owners are moving back to the bays, which is where they previously lived.
“We have really enjoyed our years here and we’ll be taking some very nice memories away with us.”
Steve Koerber, from Ray White Remuera, says that as well as a general shortage of properties in the suburb, there’s also a shortage of homes that have been renovated to 9 Mahoe Road’s notably high standards.

“It’s also very well-placed for local public and private schools, including Victoria Avenue Primary School, St Kentigern’s and Baradene.”
He and Nila Koerber are marketing 9 Mahoe Avenue.
Auckland Grammar School and Epsom Girls Grammar School are both easily reached by bus and bustling Remuera Village is down the road while the property also enjoys easy access to Newmarket for shopping and dining.

Koerber says that the house also lends itself to multi-generational living.
“Whoever buys it will be able to simply walk in and enjoy it, as all the hard work has already been done.”
9 Mahoe Avenue in Remuera, Auckland will be sold at auction on November 17.
