A significant site at the Three Lamps end of Ponsonby Road is about to become one of Auckland’s most exclusive addresses.

Urban Collective (UrbanCo) development director Kelly McEwan says this fantastic location will soon be the site of Pompallier on Ponsonby, a brand-new, mixed-use development featuring food and beverage businesses, along with beauty and menswear stores, unique office spaces and 12 ultra-deluxe apartments.

With the price agreed and contractor appointed, construction is set to begin in the first quarter of 2024. The project is poised to redefine luxury urban living in Auckland.

The building was designed by internationally coveted architects Fearon Hay, and McEwan describes it a legacy project, noting that the building is sure to become a local landmark.

“Everything will be of the very highest standard.”

Working with Eke Panuku, the council-controlled organisation dedicated to urban regeneration, UrbanCo has committed to providing underground public carparking, as spaces in Ponsonby are in short supply. The existing above-ground carpark will be transformed into an attractive garden plaza designed by award-winning landscape architects LandLAB.

McEwan says that interest in the project has been so strong that around 40% of the apartments have already been signed up, and 75% of the business premises have been leased.

Astute purchasers wanting to be part of this vibrant new community can choose from seven freehold apartment types.

They range from a one-bedroom 82sqm unit through various progressively larger two and three-bedroom options, to a 312sqm penthouse boasting three to four bedrooms, a media room, study, chef’s kitchen with scullery, as well as a zen garden feature entry, extensive decking and a four-car garage.

A one-bedroom unit is priced from $1.85 million, two bedrooms from $3.4m and three bedrooms from $6.8m. The penthouse price is available on application.

The developers have kept traditional neighbouring villas in mind and say that apartments in Pompallier on Ponsonby will have the high ceilings and natural light that characterise those grand old homes, but without requiring maintenance and upkeep.

Interior design draws from the colours and textures of nature and every apartment enjoys expansive views. The open plan living areas are large and very conducive to entertaining family and friends. European designer stone tiled bathrooms with top quality tapware are sleek and stylish.

Buyers can make their own mark on the décor to some degree and customise their interior fitouts in collaboration with the project’s renowned suppliers.

The residents’ carpark has a car-washing bay and residents have various garage options while each floor of the building is serviced by a high-speed elevator.

McEwan says that a wide range of people have shown interest in the apartments, drawn to the experience of living in one of Auckland’s most iconic precincts, surrounded by boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Public transport is easily accessible.

“All of our previous projects have become true communities where people socialise together,” says McEwan, who expects Pompallier on Ponsonby will be the same.
