The Hits drivetime host Matty McLean sold his Auckland home in less than a week - and he has his husband, Ryan Teece, to thank.

Teece, an agent with White Fox, found a buyer for the two-bedroom Waterview house after the first weekend of open homes.
McLean told OneRoof he never had any doubts that Teece and his real estate colleague, Reuben Payn, would land a sale, although the speed at which it happened did take him by surprise.
“He was a dream agent. I had all the faith in the world he would do an amazing job, and he did,” McLean said.

The buyer was another real estate agent, buying his first home, Teece said. “That makes for a great little story. It really highlights the strength we’re seeing in the first home buyer market right now.
“It is a great time for people to upgrade to their second home while the first-home buyer market is strong. There is good availability to step up – and we’re doing just that ourselves. Walking the walk, as they say.”
The couple declined to say what they sold their house for.
McLean isn't the only Hits star to enjoy real estate success. Earlier this month, his drivetime co-host, Matilda Green, sold her home at auction, while daytime host Hayley Bath sold her Wellington home just last week.

“There’s something in the water, obviously,” McLean told OneRoof. He said the sale happened so quickly, he didn’t have time to talk about it on air.
Teece and McLean said they had been mulling a move for a while. “We just decided to bite the bullet, it felt like a good time,” McLean said
“With a real estate agent for a husband, things do tend to move very quickly. He’s the best agent!”
The couple have six months before settlement, which, they say, should be enough time to find a new home. McLean is confident that Teece will nail it. “He’s got a good eye for these things, and he’s incredibly handy. I just follow suit.”

The couple are also confident their schnauzer-cross dog Otis, adopted in the early days of their relationship, will be up for the move. “He’s bounced around a few different places. He’s gotten used to moving,” McLean said.
The couple bought the Waterview home in December 2022 for $1.185m, just before their wedding at the luxury Parihoa Estate overlooking Muriwai beach.
Earlier that year, they sold their holiday house in Kaipara for $590,000. Busy careers meant few weekends off to enjoy the country spot, so they let it go.
Teece told OneRoof that they had snapped up the Waterview home after falling in love with it on their first viewing. “It was amazing how many people we knew who lived in the suburb. It instantly felt like home."

The open-plan home, which had been immaculately renovated by the previous owners, features a custom kitchen with concrete benchtops, complete with a coffee set-up, living and dining areas that open to a generous deck.
In his advertising, the agent described their travertine-clad bathroom as “next-level" with luxe tiling and a walk-in shower.
“I told the new owner that I’ll be doing a drive-by to check on my hedges. I really loved those hedges,” Teece said.
The agent said that in the past three months, he had sold four homes to first-home buyers, including his own. He also has three offers on another home he brought to market just last week.
