When the current owners bought this attractive weatherboard home in a quiet Belmont street, it had been completely renovated.
Almost 15 years on, they’ve had very little to do other than maintain 7 Maleme Avenue in Belmont, North Shore, Auckland although they recently redecorated, painting the walls and replacing the carpet.
“The previous owners had done a really lovely job and created a very classic feel, which hasn’t dated at all,” the vendor says.
“I’m Devonport born and bred, so it’s nice to live in the same general area, yet still be that bit closer to Takapuna.

“This street is actually a hidden treasure, and we didn’t even know about it until we came to see the house.
“Because it’s a cul-de-sac with very little traffic, our children could always play safely outside and we’re not far from Narrow Neck beach, which has been really great.”
The home’s living areas, on the ground floor are all open-plan and the flow is seamless, with the kitchen right at the heart of things.
It’s very well-appointed with quality appliances and masses of bench space for family and friends to gather around.

There are three bedrooms on this level, along with a combined laundry and bathroom, plus a study area.
The lounge opens out to the patio, with a swimming pool and spa surrounded by palm trees which serve to accentuate the holiday resort atmosphere.
Back inside, the master bedroom is upstairs along with a walk-in wardrobe ensuite and yet more living space, and has the most glorious harbour and city views of all, plus a large, elevated deck for entertaining.
The owner says that this is probably the aspect that she and her husband will miss most of all, as they relocate to Omaha.

“It’s been a very happy home for us, and we have lots of great memories, but our children have grown up and left now so this feels like the right time for us to move on.”
Luxury property and waterfront specialist Victoria Bidwell from Bayleys, Takapuna agrees that the home is perfect for families and says it is very stylish and enormously appealing, with a distinct Hamptons vibe.
“I understand that a previous owner did the landscaping, and the garden is quite beautiful, with a French sort of feel about it, including a lovely fountain, and I love the raised salad and herb beds.”

She says that the home is peaceful and private, tucked behind a solid stone fence, and is ideally positioned, just minutes away from Belmont School, Belmont Intermediate and Takapuna Grammar.
It’s an easy drive to Devonport Village for shopping and recreation, while more edgy Takapuna with its shops, bars and restaurants isn’t far away either.
Bidwell says that even in current lockdown levels the property is garnering lots of interest because homes of this quality rarely come to market.
7 Maleme Avenue in Belmont, North Shore, Auckland will be sold at auction on October 14.
