Every single detail of this remarkable, brand new 306sqm townhouse, set on an elevated site in popular Northcote Point, has been meticulously considered by owners Chris and Carole in the culmination of a decades-long plan.

“I’d owned the land since 1974, well before I met Carole. After we married in 1991, we intended to build there and take advantage of the incredible views, but for various reasons it didn’t happen immediately,” says Chris.

The now-retired architect explains that he and Carole have resided in nearby Takapuna for a long time, but three years ago, they made the decision to pursue their passion project in Northcote Point.

“We wanted to bring our vision for Alfred Street to life and create something we would be proud to sell to a discerning buyer looking for architectural design and beauty, with low maintenance and easy living.

“Everything was approached as if we would be living there ourselves and we included all the features that we would want,” says Carole.

There is a four-car garage on the ground floor (or two-car, if doubling as a gym). Chris says this is because he would have needed plenty of storage space for his kayak, golf clubs, and hobby car.

The level two, Mood-designed kitchen with its generous scullery forms part of an expansive living and dining zone.

Extensive wraparound decking offers multiple places for soaking up the sun and enjoying warmth from a Trendz outdoor fire in winter.

Carole says it has every ‘wow’ feature she’d ever dreamed of while making a definitive style statement with its soft, warm, custom-made birch cabinetry, engineered oak flooring and top-quality appliances – including a double fridge – all of which are all included in this unusually generous turnkey package.

“The laundry was another of my absolute must-haves and the brand-new washing machine and drier are part of the sale too.”

Bespoke cabinetry is further showcased in the bright, contemporary living room, which enjoys a spectacular floating fireplace and stunning vistas.

“As keen sailors, it was important to us to have the harbour and Rangitoto as an intrinsic part of our outlook,” Chris says.

Outside on this level, extensive wraparound decking – in addition to a patio adjacent to the entrance – offers multiple places for soaking up the sun and sea air, enjoying warmth from a Trendz outdoor fire in winter.

The owners had intended to build after they got married in 1991 but didn’t until three years ago.

Upstairs are four bright, sunny bedrooms, one of which could be used for extra living space or working from home – along with a main bathroom and an elegant master ensuite, both of five-star hotel calibre. Yet another deck completes a very inviting picture.

With all council consents signed off, Chris and Carole have resisted the temptation to spend a night in the new house, which has an enviable chattels list in addition to well-established, subtropical-inspired landscaping. They want it to be 100% pristine for the eventual buyer.

“But we’ve spent a lot of time here during the build and loved every single minute.” says Carole.
