Auckland development in hot demand, even selling fast during lockdown.
A home in Ōwairaka has sold off the plans in just eight minutes during the second level 3 lockdown in Auckland – a result that has stunned developers in the Roskill Development.
Jalcon’s Marketing Manager Deryn Newman says their second release of homes within the Roskill Development, at Range View Road in Ōwairaka, has surpassed all expectations.
“We think the positive response from the launch of The Ōwairaka Collection is testament to the team’s effort to respect the already-established suburb, enhance it with clever design, carefully selected products and deliver a quality home in a neighbourhood our clients know and love,” Newman says.

The four-bedroom standalone home was sold for $1.18m to a local resident, which has been the case for all the homes sold by Jalcon in the Roskill Development to date.
“All our buyers have been within a 5-10km radius of the homes we’re building, which is fantastic to see,” says Newman. “We’re pleased to be building a range of home typologies enabling buyers to stay in their neighbourhood.”
With a small amount of digital marketing, and using Jalcon’s and Roskill Development’s targeted email databases and local mailbox flyer drops, Jalcon received overwhelming inquiries on the homes for sale, with 90 in the first three days of going to market and 650 to date.
Jalcon is already a developer partner in Kāinga Ora’s large-scale development at Hobsonville Point, and Newman says that partnering with Kāinga Ora in its Roskill Development continues the shared commitment of building thriving communities where people “connect with the area and their neighbours”.
She also credits buying off the plans as an easy way to confidently buy a home when Covid-19 restrictions are in place: “Because the home isn’t available to view anyway, you’d be following a very similar purchasing process whether Auckland is in a lockdown or not,” Deryn says.
“We’re a family-operated business, and we treat our prospective buyers like family too – it’s important to keep them informed at every step along the way, so they can have confidence in their purchase. Many of our clients are already familiar with the Jalcon workmanship and quality, so perhaps an eight-minute sale isn’t so far-fetched after all.”
