Chartered building surveyor Will Stockley has returned to Colliers and joined the Project Leaders team to lead the Building Consultancy service.
With more than 14 years of industry experience following the completion of his studies at the University of Reading in England, where he attained a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Stockley brings in-depth knowledge to the role having worked in London before relocating to New Zealand in 2019.
He commonly undertakes core building surveying services, including technical due diligence for owners or occupiers, landlord and tenant representation for make good assessments, capex and maintenance plans, and premise condition reports.
Following Colliers’ acquisition of Greenstone Group in April, who have since rebranded to become Colliers Project Leaders, the demands and requirements for their division to provide clients with an enhanced Building Consultancy service helped draw Stockley to the position.

Having previously worked for Colliers he says he is excited to return to a world-renowned organisation.
“Building Consultancy is a rapidly emerging area of the New Zealand property sector due to the shifting focus towards risk management, which is having a significant impact on how owners and occupiers treat their assets,” Stockley says.

Building Consultancy could be best described as offering a health check on a building or asset and Stockley’s holistic approach to property is driven from previous experience in both structural and civil engineering and multi-disciplinary commercial firms. This assists Stockley to look at things in the round, make better decisions, and give more thorough and bespoke advice.
It may include advising an investor or occupier during their due diligence phase as they look to acquire a property through examining the building fabric, compliance documentation and the wider site, detailing what may need replacing, and the associated costs.
Stockley also provides make good assessments for landlords or tenants; this can take place when a tenant is exiting a lease. The assessment outlines the work required to return the property, in accordance of lease terms, to its original condition with associated costs.
Premises condition reports is a growing discipline, with local authorities mandating pre-development condition surveys of neighbouring buildings prior to commencement.
