“We were keen boaties from way back and had always thought a home on Waiheke would be nice so when we saw this site, with its great views, we jumped at the chance,” he says.
At the time, the couple had Hulena Architects doing work for them back on the mainland, so it made sense to engage the company’s skills for the new build.
“I knew that I wanted the island home to be L-shaped and that it had to include a large garage for our boat plus jet skis and other water toys, as well as cars,” the owner says.

Pandemic lockdowns caused building delays, but the new property was completed in August 2021 and the family moved in just in time to enjoy a typically idyllic Waiheke summer with lots of entertaining.
