“If a picture paints a thousand words, why can’t I paint you?” a wise song writer once penned. Well the same is true for this property.
To judge by photos alone would be an injustice. The experience cannot easily be conveyed without a visit.
Nestled into the mature native bush at the end of a laneway, this property enjoys great privacy yet is elevated enough to offer amazing views of Bream Bay. This includes views of the Hen and Chicken Islands and the Whangarei Heads, from both the main house and the studio unit that is just across the courtyard.
The main house has large open plan living, with large glass slider doors ensuring that you can enjoy the magnificent views as well as providing easy access to the generous deck area from living and dining areas.
The kitchen has been designed with plenty of storage, as once you arrive you might not want to leave again for a while - it's that peaceful.
Bench space to allow friends or family to help prepare meals is complemented by versatile pantry spaces, plus a fridge/freezer which is plumbed in to offer chilled water etc
The wood fire offers an opportunity to gaze at a flickering flame, although with double-glazing throughout you might not feel you need to light the fire
Between the main house and the studio the deck courtyard area has been very tastefully planted and also has a pizza oven to help with those social occasions.
The master bedroom, and even its ensuite, have uninterrupted views of Bream head as well as the other offshore islands. Lie back in the bath and watch the yachts sail past , in the distance – fabulous view, yet private enough for you to soak in the bath for as long as you want. There is also a generously proportioned walk-in shower, which enjoys a similarly peaceful view.
The second bedroom is currently used as a large office, but can very easily revert to being a bedroom.
Downstairs is an area that the current owners have liked to do arts and crafts in. Designed initially as a bedroom, there is a toilet adjoining this area - how convenient.
Between the house and the double garage the roof of the house and roof of the garage almost meet, so this gives reasonable shelter when walking across deck from garage to house.
Many mature fruit trees and extensive vegetable gardens, so that you can enjoy fresh produce for most days of the year. Underneath the house are a couple of small garden sheds, which have primarily been used for drying and or storing excess produce.
There is also a spa (hot tub) on the deck area, where you can lie back and take in a large coastal panorama while being gently massaged by gentle stream of bubbles
A huge valley of very mature native bush as a backdrop to enjoy. Experience the tranquility of truly virgin native bush, gazing towards giant Kauri, Rimu, Tanekaha, Miro, Puriri and many other species. Appreciate the shade of the forest canopy on a hot summers day in a secluded area below the house, or the shelter provided by it on a stormy winters day – it is a very special experience.
With this property you are allocated your very own (large) boatshed. Yes it will fit a reasonable sized boat, but you can use it for storage instead as there's no requirement to only use for a boat. This boatshed is located in the shared recreational area.
The recreational area also has a tennis court, plus some cabanas overlooking a fresh water pond which is filled courtesy of a small (but fairly high) waterfall. This shared area is all located in a large natural amphitheater of bush.
If you are yet to experience the benefits of Langs Beach, don't delay as this long white sandy beach on the east coast or Northland is magic.
Those who do discover this beach are soon enchanted and continue to return, with their friends and family.
Approx 90 mins to Auckland, but within a short drive there are golf courses, shops, cafes and other facilities. Nearby settlements include Waipu and Waipu Cove.
