Old Bank Shopping Arcade, four historic retail and office buildings, all 4-5 storeys, built between 1885 and 1905, designed by Thomas Turnbull.
The buildings include the former National Mutual Life Association of Australasia Building at 98 Customhouse Quay, the tallest masonry building in Wellington when built and the first to include a lift; and the former Bank of New Zealand Building at the corner of Customhouse and Lambton Quay, which served as the bank's headquarters from 1901 to 1984. The Old Bank Shopping Arcade runs through all the buildings at ground and lower ground levels, and connects underground to the BNZ retail centre.
