A large warehouse within New Zealand’s largest import container port has become available for lease.

Shed 2, in the centre of Ports of Auckland’s city base, offers 6,300sqm of warehouse space, plus a container yard of around 2,210sqm.

It is the only available warehouse at the Waitemata Seaport with direct access to vessels and machinery to support containers dropped off right to the tenant's door.

It also provides direct access to the rail network, with daily trains from the Waitemata Seaport to the South Auckland Freight Hub, situated in Wiri.

JLL broker Sam Smith says leasing opportunities like Shed 2 are few and far between.

“This is a fantastic chance to utilise the immense facilities and resources of Ports of Auckland while being placed literally in the centre of Auckland and surrounding arterial links,” he says.

“A base like this could be the perfect solution for many businesses. For example, exporters that are currently using the Port of Tauranga to export through when they can bypass that rung and export straight from the Auckland waterfront.”

Ports of Auckland Property Manager Joel Buckingham says Shed 2 is a first-rate asset.

“An astute operator will be able to utilise the full service available, including container delivery to and from vessels, pick up and drop off of empty containers from the onsite empty container facility and direct access onto rail,” says Buckingham.

“This also provides an importer 24/7 access to the Waitemata Seaport which allows for direct access via truck to the Auckland supply chain network.”
