Twenty years after seeing the stunning views from this home during one neighbourhood watch meeting there, it still resonated in the mind of one of its current owners.

“I remember thinking ‘oh my God, this is a great home with great access, fantastic views, and so close to Titirangi Village’,” Brian says.

Fast forward two decades and Brian and wife Julie were living a little further up Kohu Road in a property which had an electric chair lift as the driveway only went half-way to the house.

“I remembered how great Number 29 was and we put a letter in its letterbox saying ‘If you ever want to sell ...’,” Brian says. “We bought it in 2015 without it ever going to market.

“The previous owners had been there a long time so now it’s the first time in more than 50 years it’s been offered on the market.”

Julie says, “The views are outstanding. You can see from Mount Hobson, around the harbour and further west to Te Atatu Peninsula.

“My favourite place is in the window seat in the lounge, looking over the bush below us to the Waitemata Harbour.”

The weatherboard home still retains elements of its original 1940s character.

Brian and Julie, with help from an architect and interior designer, extensively renovated most of the upper level creating a more open-plan living layout flowing out to more substantial decks.

Their 3837sqm property is a 300-metre flat walk from Titirangi Village; some of its expansiveness devoted to native trees interlaced with pathways below the home.

They’ve had eight cars parked in the driveway, which leads to a triple garage.

Entry is into the 260sqm home’s upper level which showcases some original polished wood flooring.

There’s easy flow out to the large upper-level deck, above which there’s a gardened outdoor area with birds’ eye view into the city and to the Hauraki Gulf beyond.

“I think Kohu Road is Titirangi’s best road for sun and views and this house is nicely protected from the southerly winds,” Brian says.
