Hobsonville Point is a hive of activity with new homes, townhouses, and apartments popping up left, right, and centre. But right in the heart of the action lies a unique community that’s set apart from the rest.

Launch Bay on Hudson Bay Road is a waterfront district perched on the clifftops of Hobsonville Point in Auckland.

Created by world-class developer Winton and looking out across the upper reaches of the Waitematā Harbour, Launch Bay is home to a dynamic collection of luxurious abodes, from the masterful renovation of the area’s heritage Officers’ Houses to the development of brand-new townhouses and apartments.

Ovation is the latest Launch Bay development on Winton’s books, due for completion in the coming months with an expected move-in date before Christmas.

An exclusive waterfront development of just 19 two- and three-bedroom apartments spread across six floors, Ovation is conveniently close to the best bits of the city yet a whole world away from its hustle and bustle.

Six apartments at Ovation remain, all with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two carparks (on a stacker).

Edwin Killick from Bayleys, who is one of three agents marketing Ovation, says the view is the first thing anyone notices when they step into an Ovation apartment.

“Ovation has a lot of glass, especially in the waterfront facing apartments,” he says. “Floor-to-ceiling windows coupled with a 2.7-metre-high stud make for incredible views out across the Waitematā. When you walk down the hallways, particularly from the upper levels, you can just about see the view coming at you – it’s spectacular.”

The other two agents also marketing Ovation are Kirsten Bishop and Cherry Kingsley-Smith.

Careful attention to detail and a focus on enduring style and comfort have been paramount for both developer Winton and their build partner, Kalmar Construction.

A high stud throughout creates a wonderful sense of space and size, while high quality timber floors ground each living zone. An integrated and ducted heating and cooling system will keep residents comfortable whatever the weather, while a generous balcony with 270-degree views connects residents with the outdoors.

Winton’s head of vertical living James Burgess says the sense of community at Ovation, and indeed within Launch Bay, sets itself apart from other developments on the Point.

“The strongest benefit of Launch Bay is our work to create a community that endures well past the completion of each development,” he says. “Every project revolves around the Oval, which is the centre of the Launch Bay micro-community. With only 19 apartments available at Ovation, residents are going to know their neighbours, and with a maximum of three apartments on each floor they’ll never feel cramped.”

Burgess says the location is second to none.

“Ovation enjoys uninterrupted views across the water that can’t ever be built out. The boardwalk that wraps around Hobsonville Point is mere metres away, while one of Auckland’s best cafés, Fabric, is a short stroll away. Hobsonville Point has so much going for it including the Catalina Markets, Little Creatures, and the ferry terminal to take commuters straight into the city – and Launch Bay is right in the centre of it all.”
