Link Business Brokers’ franchise specialist Dawn Engelbrecht is representing two business-to-business franchise brands under one umbrella — Speedy Signs and EmbroidMe.

Speedy Signs started in 1998 in a Penrose, Auckland, location, operated by founder Grant Archibald, who is now CEO of Business Franchise Group, the franchisor for both Speedy Signs and branded apparel and promotional product specialist EmbroidMe.

“My wife Sarah and I launched the pilot store for Speedy Signs, building the business from the ground up, and there has been enormous growth in the signage industry over this period,” Archibald recalls.

Franchising commenced just two years later and a further 25 locations have opened from Whangarei to Invercargill, making Speedy Signs the largest signage network in New Zealand.

With the success of this franchise network and an explosion in the branded apparel industry, the franchisors replicated their successful model and rolled out EmbroidMe franchises in 2006.

This network has grown to 12 locations across New Zealand.

With 30 years of international recognition and growth, they’ve become world leaders in signage and branded apparel, with dedication to maintaining localised support and individual attention.

As the Business Franchise Group, Sarah and Grant are enthusiastic about helping entrepreneurs into their own successful and profitable business.

“I’m passionate about the brands we’ve built in New Zealand and in helping people make their dream of business ownership a reality,” says Archibald.

The dual franchise operation of Speedy Signs and EmbroidMe Rotorua is a prime example.

The Speedy Signs franchise was established in the city in 2007 with EmbroidMe added in 2011. They have grown to become the market leader in Rotorua, taking around 70 per cent of the market share across both brands.

Their commitment to quality is unmatched in the industry. “We know the importance of brand awareness and the effect it has on the bottom line. Signage plays an integral part in the recognition of a brand and therefore quality is imperative,” says Aaron, the current owner.

“There’s a lot of satisfaction that comes from running a business that helps other businesses grow their sales. That’s what our brands are about — offering complete branding solutions that include everything from signs, displays, uniforms, custom embroidery, screen printing and promotional products.”

The owners of Speedy Signs and EmbroidMe Rotorua have decided it is time to offer their business to the market, creating an outstanding opportunity for an incoming owner to join this award-winning group.

Success has been attributed to the collective effort of business owners plus a support team devoted to service and excellence. All franchise operations are locally owned and operated.

“With proven systems in place and a dedicated and loyal team of 13 staff across both brands, this business is a well-oiled machine,” says Engelbrecht. An impressive asset register comprises a wide range of cutting-edge and specialised equipment, allowing Speedy Signs and EmbroidMe Rotorua to extend their service offerings while also enhancing profit margins by bringing speciality work in-house.

With the strength of the brands behind them and an impressive operation in Rotorua, Speedy Signs and EmbroidMe facilitate contracts and tenders with major organisations and Government.

“This is a Covid-resilient business that has enjoyed its highest turnover to date securing national contracts in the manufacturing of social distancing screens for the most practical solution to one of the largest industries in New Zealand,” explains Engelbrecht.

“This, combined with being a preferred supplier to the Lakes District Health Board, means that lockdowns have been anything but quiet.”

Speedy Signs and EmbroidMe Rotorua is being offered to the market at $2.2 million including all tangible and intangible assets, vendor assistance, as well as ongoing training and support from the franchisor team at Business Franchise Group.
