How would you like to own a spectacular café at one of Auckland’s iconic waterfront locations?

The chance has arrived to secure a little piece of hospitality magic with Buoy, located right on Westhaven Marina.

Buoy is a local institution and is being offered for sale for the first time by ABC Business Sales’ Paul Buer and Jeff Wiley.

Two of the city's most famous landmarks are the fleet of masts at Westhaven Marina and the sweeping arc of the Harbour Bridge.

Buoy sits at the heart of the action, serving heart-pumping coffees and excellent casual menu.

It is the ideal place for a decadent snack, a catch-up with friends over lunch, or a glass of wine or beer on the sun-drenched deck.

“Buoy is one of my all-time favourites. It serves the best coffee and has some of the most delicious cabinet offerings in town. I’ve been coming here for years and there’s practically nothing on the menu that I haven’t tried and thoroughly enjoyed.

“The food is always fresh, the staff are great and you can’t beat the outdoor deck on a sunny day. It even works in the middle of winter for a hearty brunch,” Buer says.

Buoy’s sales average around $32,000 per week and generous profits are made from 7am to 3pm.

However, with a full liquor licence until the small hours, there’s the opportunity for opening nights, functions, marina catering and more — an outstanding opportunity to secure a premier hospitality site and really turn up the heat.

“I jumped at the chance to secure this spot and I have loved the fantastic community spirit of the marina’s boaties, workers and visitors,” the owner says.

“The business has grown progressively and we recently opened a takeaway option in a converted container which was an absolute boon during lockdowns.

“We have hosted a couple of extremely successful functions and there’s plenty of scope to develop this side of the business as well as other night-time trade. Our licence runs to 2am which gives us plenty of scope for weddings, birthdays, work events, etc.

“We’ve also been asked to provide catering for the local boaties which I think has great potential. There is so much more possible for someone with a spring in their step.

“I have absolutely loved my time here but I’m ready to retire after 40 years in the game. I would love to see a new owner with a bit more energy take full advantage of the potential and vitality in the area.”
