Experienced business and property professional James Christie has joined Colliers West Auckland as a Sales and Leasing Broker with a focus on the industrial sector.

Having first worked in commercial real estate on the North Shore in the mid-2000s, Christie is well-versed in Auckland’s property market.

After carving out a successful career in brokerage he then operated his own business for nearly a decade where he imported and sold furniture.

Following a brief sabbatical to refresh, he has returned to real estate and is excited about working under the Colliers banner.

“I have a lot of longstanding relationships in the real estate and business sectors and I look forward to being able to leverage those with the backing of the Colliers brand,” Christie says.

“Through my background of being a business owner and working in property I have a deep understanding of the market allowing me to provide sound and practical advice for my clients.”

Led by General Manager Nelson Raines, the West Auckland team includes experienced Brokers Caroline Cornish and Benson Tarm who have intricate knowledge of the local market.

North Shore-based Directors Matt Prentice and Shoneet Chand also collaborate closely with the West Auckland office, providing dedicated asset class specialisation.

The West Auckland area continues to expand at pace with a host of residential developments that are being supported by multiple retail offerings near Westgate, including New Zealand’s first Costco.

The development of the Spedding Industrial land in Whenuapai that is being marketed for sale by the Colliers Capital Markets team shows the ongoing growth that is taking place.

“I see continued potential in West Auckland given the vast amount of development land that is available for businesses that are looking to expand,” Christie says.

“With such a lack of available industrial land on the North Shore, many firms are looking west to explore new opportunities.

“There are land and build options available in West Auckland where greater efficiencies can be created through the development of high-quality new stock.”

Raines says Christie’s broad background in property and business will put him in a great position to succeed at Colliers.

“We are incredibly excited to have James join our team and know that with his proven track record he will be able to deliver top-quality results and exceptional service for our clients,” Raines says.

“His knowledge of the West Auckland and North Shore areas that have begun to merge into a shared ‘North-West’ market will be hugely valuable.”
