Despite having worked in the real estate sector for only a few years, Harry Cooper has already seen multiple stages of the property cycle.
After starting out buying and trading apartments with his brother Ben, he worked in the residential sector from 2021 for a few years selling a variety of properties from luxury apartments in Parnell to three-bedroom bungalows in Onehunga.
He entered residential real estate at the peak of the market, which preceded a year where vendor expectations did not meet those of buyers and then there were challenges getting listings as people stood still in 2023.
While economic circumstances have fluctuated rapidly during the past few years, he is happy to have joined the Colliers office in Highbrook as an Industrial Sales Broker.

The Cooper name is synonymous with Colliers as Harry’s father Charles worked in the Highbrook office for many years and is now the Auckland Managing Director at Colliers.
Family links aside, Harry Cooper says he always wanted to carve his own path in the property sector.
“Having worked in the residential side of property, there are many underlying principles that transfer to the commercial sector. You’re still out there hunting for the next lead and making the calls. Relationships remain paramount and I am looking to improve every single day I come in to work,” Cooper says.
“I like the extra level of opportunity that is presented through the commercial sector where properties can be utilised in a range of different ways.”
At the Highbrook office, Cooper has a focus on the East Tāmaki area and is working alongside Greg Watson who was recently promoted to Associate Director.
“I just felt the time was right in my career to join Colliers and at 25 I have managed to develop some experience in the property sector but it’s an amazing opportunity to be able to learn from the team at Highbrook given all of their achievements. You want to be working with the best people.”
The Highbrook office has established themselves as one of the top-performing teams in Colliers and has been named the REINZ Medium Commercial & Industrial Office of the Year for nine of the past 10 years.
Greg Goldfinch, National Director of Industrial, who recently celebrated 20 years at Colliers, says he is pleased to have Cooper join the team.
“I have known Harry since he was a youngster and through his combination of residential property experience and a great upbringing, I know he will be an excellent fit in our team,” Goldfinch says.
“We have a really strong and positive culture in our office, so we think carefully about the team members we bring onboard, and I look forward to watching Harry develop his expertise and grow his career.”
