Saint Heliers will soon see a revolutionary addition to the local property market with the development of Aldea, a boutique suite of townhouses that combines opulent design with eco-living.
Eco-friendly European clay bricks offer exceptional insulation and acoustic properties, keeping residents cosy in winter and comfortable in summer. Triple-glazed windows imported from Austria reduce noise and sound, while solar panels make the homes more energy efficient.
Then there’s the design and amenities. Aldea will feature 11 townhouses with six distinct designs, each oozing in modern opulence that conveys a sense of earthy permanence, like the homes have always been here.
Large floor spaces blur the lines between townhouses and standalone homes, with three bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, a study and two car parks.

Smart home automations, European-imported lifts between levels, and low-maintenance exteriors make living at Aldea effortless.
Developer Bobby Lin says eco-first construction is a new and exciting addition to the New Zealand market.
“People are more conscious of sustainability now than they’ve ever been,” he says.
“It’s not just a fad or a trend, it’s where the future of residential construction is heading. After having stayed in a house that’s built like this, it’s easy to see it’s a very different kind of product.”
Two years in the making, Aldea has been developed by who Lin describes as the “best in their fields”.
Acclaimed architect David Ponting has managed the modern European with a hint of Mediterranean concept design. The building consent has been carried out by another award-winning architect, Greg Young, who also peer reviewed Ponting’s work.
Lin is also working with respected structural engineers Cresco, while Melissa Greenough is managing the interior design.
“Aldea offers a different way to live, and in many ways it’s an upgrade. People should be excited to move into the next chapter of their life. We hope Aldea offers that sort of excitement and anticipation.”
The proximity to the beach has been considered in the architecture and design.
“We have a gem of an elevated site that enjoys premium sea views out towards Rangitoto Island. That feeling of coastal living has been reflected in the design which exudes a feeling of Mediterranean luxury and relaxation.”
Whitefox agent Ryan Teece, who is marketing Aldea, says this will be a unique addition to the New Zealand market.
“Townhouses are sometimes perceived as being at the lower end of the market, but Aldea is something else altogether,” he says.
“Aldea has been tailored specifically to the higher end downsizer. The developer has gone the extra mile by including statement features that you don’t normally find in a townhouse.
“People will be able to downsize from their large homes without giving up on luxuries that they’ve gotten used to. It’s different, but it’s where the world is going. Aldea is ahead of the curve when it comes to eco-friendly, luxurious design.”
Ultimately, Aldea promises to be so much more than just a home.
“Aldea will be the most premium townhouse in New Zealand,” says Lin. “This is an opportunity for New Zealand to demonstrate what design and architecture is available elsewhere in the world. It’s new, it’s different, it’s possibly daunting to some people, but we believe it’s superior.”
Aldea has resource consent and will complete building consent imminently. Construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025. Pricing starts from $2.8 million. The onsite show home is open 10am-4pm on weekdays and 10am-2pm on weekends. Visit aldea.co.nz.
